Artist's Comments

One of the few things I got back from my classes so that I may present it to you. Bwa-dah! It's done in watercolor and took me 2 hours to do (the class is 3 hours) and totally shocked the teacher, who up until that point, had treated me like a special kind of retard.

I hate those teachers, the ones who patronize over you because they have someone 'better' to watch. *grumbles* You did a wonderful job, I LOVE it! Man, If I could use watercolours like that. . . I think maybe I could end up famouse. ^^; Nah, but I really love this, I think I shall fave it!

My inferiority complex isn't as good as yours.

People in glass houses should never be naked(unless they're hawt bishies).

ahahhah a 'special kind of retard'

mate, that is incredible!
i woulda loved to have seen the expression on your teacher's face.. hehehe

So yes, structurally it's very good. The proportion and perspective is perfect.
but the best part is the tonal work you've done with the watercolour.

Hehe...Thanks for possibly the first comment using art terms beyond shading. ^.^

Dear special retard,

Nice job with the very subtle value changes, your dark accents are also working well. Structurally I think you are pretty sound. The skull is a very challenging subject. you have done very well.

altough there are one or two areas that I think you could improve on next time - your handling of the mandible looks a little flat - foreshortening is your challenge there, it does not quite achieve the same sense of form as does your cranium and zigomatic forms. If I was to offer a suggestion it would be to examine how delicate the formations are on the chin bone and the subtle but dramatic (!) planes of the jaw bone - the pointedness of the chin allows for the length of the jawbone - if your chin is too macho (and it is) you end up with a too short jaw.

If I could offer two more suggestions;

(1) place your subject in an environment that will support it - that is the use of shape and value in the environment that will enhance your subject - don't leave it "floating in space" (although the shadow does ground it)

(2) Glean what you can from your teacher by way of knowledge and skills - don't let his/her personality get in the way - it is a sad fact that every school has people working as teachers who do not have enough self worth to be able to treat all students equally>> ultimately if you ever teach, this assh*** will make you a better teacher than he/she. Trust me I know.

wow thats really impressive, well done!!!!!!
